Preventive Care guidelines
 Dear Patient, please review our preventative care
guidelines. If you have any questions or
want to schedule an exam to update your profile
please, call our office!
For Women:
- Pelvic exam, PAP smear,
clinical breast exam- annual, if 3 consecutive
results are normal- may be performed less
frequently (every 3 years) at the discretion of
the physician.
- 40 year old - Mammogram annually.
- Cholesterol profile every
5 years
- 40 year old - stool samples for
occult blood
- 50 year old - sigmoidoscopy every
3 years or Colonoscopy every 10 years
- At onset of Menopause -
bone density test every 2 years
For Men:
- 50 year old - PSA and Digital
Rectal exam or 40 for high risk groups.
- Cholesterol profile every
5 years.
- 70 year old - bone density
test
- Colon cancer prevention:
Occult blood 50, or 40 for high risk groups-three
stool cards.
Sigmoidoscopy start at age 50 every 3 years.
Colonoscopy in patients with high risk, or hx o f
polyps, or at the discretion of the physician; every
10 years.
Immunizations:
- Tetanus-diphtheria- every
10 years
- Influenza after 50
- Pneumonia- every 5 years
after 65
- Gardasil vaccine is now
recommended for girls 9-18 year old.
